Since 16 May 2022, the regulation about UAE Visa sticker except Dubai has no longer put in residents' passports, this regulation has announced by the Federal Authority of Identify, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security that the unification of the two separate applications - first is Emirates ID issuance and the the second is for renewal of visas for residents in the UAE. Instead of processing them separately, now there will be a unified form for the service for requests of issuance or renewal of residency and Emirates ID which means the residents do not need to proceed 2 for Emirates ID and Visa renewal because now they can proceed in one form.
Now the new regulations make residents not need to submit their passport to get visa stickers or visa renewal in their passports where in the past it was needed because the Authority can only verify the residency status through their passport number and Emirates ID. But now only with Emirates ID the authority can verify all residents' information.
Residents can get their soft copy of Visa Sticker online in the authority smart app but now there is another alternative through smart app UAE ICP to get a soft copy of Emirates ID.
The authority stated that the new Emirates ID card given to residents incorporates all subtleties referenced beforehand on the residency sticker, including individual and professional information, the applicant and other information details which mentionable and non-mentionable information on the card.
For those who had applied before 16 May 2022 for a new residence visa or its renewal will still need to follow previous regulation and will get a visa sticker in their passport.
Once again this new regulation is not yet applicable in Dubai where residents still need to process both applications Emirates ID and Visa renewal separately. Residents will also still get the Visa sticker in their passport.
