A UAE Id card is very important for all residents, especially foreigners. Which contains all details of each resident and it helps the government or system identify your identity. That is why your details in the ID card must be correct and always updated as per your current personal details.
The ICA said residents' information in ID cards must be always updated if there is any change of the data in the case of marriage and there are changes in the spouse's last name (embracing an original surname) for certain nationalities. Even Though if there is no change, the information in the ID card and the population registry must be updated.
The UAE digital government said the residents must notify the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) of any progressions made to the information contained in the Emirates Identity Card within 30 days from the date of the change. Fine will be applicable for those who delay or avoid renewing their Emirates ID card because valid Emirates ID is mandatory for all residents.
Residents can change or update their data in their ID card through the ICA website or its smart application. Residents do not need to submit any documents for making changes, and it will cost Dh50.
