WHAT
IS LABOR INSURANCE AND HOW CAN YOU CLAIM IT?
It’s an Insurance system which is offering employees in the
private sector and it’s called (Taa-meen).
Ministry of Human
Resources and Emiratization allow the companies Instead of keeping a bank
guarantee of AED 3,000 as a deposit, employers can buy this insurance for
employees during their visa process. Called Taa-meen.
Benefits for employees
This insurance will
provide a maximum coverage of 20,000 Dhs per employee and protect the employee
from the company’s bankruptcy or failure to get his benefits. In case the
insurance company pays the employee, the employer has to repay the same to the
insurance company.
Coverage and limit of the policy
Employee
can claim this insurance in case of company’s failure or bankruptcy to pay the
employees’ benefits, the new policy will provide a maximum insurance coverage
of AED 20,000 for each employee against the following benefits in the workplace:
For private sector employees the policy covers the following:
Unpaid entitlements
End of service
benefits
Vacation allowance
Overtime allowance
Unpaid wages
Return air ticket
During work injury
after it is determined by a court ruling.
For domestic workers, the policy covers the following:
The cost
of worker’s replacement, in case of work discontinuation
If the
worker is medically unfit
If the
worker decides to terminate employment unilaterally
Unpaid
wages and entitlements
Service
benefits
Unpaid
vacations and overtime
Airfare
to home country and work injuries’ compensations.
How to obtain this insurance
Step 1
Visit MOHRE website enquiry services or click
here and choose Print Insurance Certificate.
Step 2
Type
your Labor Card number there and click submit
Step 3
Download the insurance and print it.
